Project Solution examples

• A key work scope undertaken by LEF was the installation of a new air ducting system for the furnace to provide it with air aiding with the burn of contents. The ducting system consisted of square sections of ducting with 4” and 6” nozzles coming off and penetrating into the furnace at multiple locations.
• LEF also led the design, fabrication and installation of the furnace side glass viewing access platform. This section of the project involved the creation of a new staircase leading to a steel platform installation. Which led to a new viewing access panel to the furnace, also designed, fabricated and installed by LEF.
• New aluminum paneling was installed on the furnace casing. This process involved the cutting, drilling and then the paneling was tapped into the existing steel work.

Graeme Miller- welder and fabricator at LEF, Graeme started with the company in 2014. He states “LEF is a fantastic place to work, from the approachability of management to the challenging nature of the job I thoroughly enjoy it. On the ERP shutdown project, I was directly involved over the course of around five weeks. A key role which I undertook was the removal of the old air ducting system which ran to the furnace. Upon completion of the successful removal we then moved onto the installation of a new fan and air ducting system. Another example of aspects I was involved with included the installation of stairs and handrails, this involved modifications to the structures to ensure accurate fitment.”

Rachel Moynes- welder and fabricator at LEF, Rachel joined the company in 2014. Rachel stated “I enjoy working at LEF due to the variety of jobs which come through the door, I am always being challenged by unique problems which I need to find the correct solution for. I worked closely with Graeme on the shutdown project, I was involved in the fabrication and welding on the new pipework for the air duct system. This included welding 90-degree pipe elbows to carbon steel pipework.”
